Women in Business Foundations Program Celebrating 1000 registrations!
ABH was pleased to host an event this week at our Port Adelaide HQ, showcasing some of the excellent women in business who have registered to participate in the program.
City of Port Adelaide Enfield Mayor Claire Boan welcomed the Hon. Andrea Michaels MP, South Australian Minister for Small and Family Business and special guest the Hon. Julie Collins MP, Australian Government Minister for Small Business who heads the Digital Solutions Program also being delivered across SA by Adelaide Business Hub.
It was great to celebrate the achievements of so many women who have been savvy enough to benefit from mentoring from both programs!
Here’s why you need to register for the WiBFP at ABH- be quick as places are now limited for one-on-one mentoring: $88 for 4 hours
"Through the Adelaide Business Hub mentoring program, we have learned and had support to achieve international trade readiness, various support grants, attended Australian Tourism Exchange (into our 3rd year), travelled with SATC to UK and Europe on a trade event, learned how to run our social media with better engagement, building and continued maintenance on our website, online booking platform and on-going marketing campaigns plus support and advice when needed.
In addition to our Women in Business Foundations Program Mentoring, we continue to be engaged with our mentor, local business Tourism Accelerator, who have been a great support and always go above and beyond. We truly believe without programs such as the Women in Business Foundations Program and other support programs the Adelaide Business Hub provide, we would not be where we are today. Our personal business commitment to the programs and “homework” have proved invaluable to us for our ongoing business success"
The South Australian Government is proud to present: Small Business Week 2024 from 29 April - 3 May 2024 A week of events, workshops and information sessions to help you strengthen and grow your small business.
If you run or work in one of South Australia's 150,000 small businesses, you're invited to participate in a variety of in-person and online events across the state, designed to support your growth and development.
Gain clarity. You need laser precision on who you are, what you are able to offer (and to whom) and most importantly, how you stand out from others.
Do an online audit. Once you are crystal clear on how you are going to position yourself in the market, you need to ensure your digital footprint supports this. Review your website copy along with your socials, LinkedIn page etc.
Learn to self-promote. Tell 10 people that you know about your 2024 plans. Are you wanting to find more clients of a particular mould, are you looking for opportunities such as workshops, speaking opportunities, more mentoring? These 10 people (or at least a percentage of them) will keep you back of mind for any suitable opportunities they may come across.
Become an active participant in groups that make sense, whether they are online or in-person. These could be local business groups, membership-based groups or even Facebook groups where you can quickly become known as the ‘go-to’ expert on a certain topic/area. Share your knowledge within these groups as much as you can.
Post educational content on social media that showcases your insight or understanding on a topic. Better still, pass on tips and tricks for followers to apply (tip: be generous with sharing your knowledge)
Obtain media exposure via PR. This is the ultimate way to position yourself as the expert in the field and adds some serious weight to your credibility and status.
Be persistent! You don’t go from zero to hero overnight. The little steps matter, and although you may feel like you’re not making progress, trust that you are!
This is what Dilce Santos from Lavish Flower Studio had to say about her mentoring session:
" I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Women in Business Foundations Program run by the Adelaide Business Hub.
This was a truly beneficial experience for me as a small business owner and also as a relatively new Australian. The program demonstrated genuine commitment to fostering success among women in business. The support provided by the marketing and finance mentors was truly outstanding. The mentors were not only highly knowledgeable but also deeply invested in the success of each participant. They have also maintained contact which has been great. They provided personalised guidance that was invaluable to me in navigating the complexities of marketing and finance and especially bolstered my confidence as I ventured into a new shop premise on Payneham Road in the Glynde intersection "
